This is an outdoor table found on the grounds of the Valkill Estate. It was originally made of either pine or cypress and is accompanied by a bench of similar design. It is called a Callaway table in honor of the relationship between Caison Callaway and Franklin Roosevelt during the early '30's in Warm Springs, Georgia. The Callaway family continues to hold property in the Warm Springs area, and Patrick Callaway has recently set up a permanent conservation easement on over 10,000 acres to keep the land in its original condition. Caisson and Franklin would both have agreed with that move.
We have named the table to pay homage to the original relationship between the families, but also because of the efforts of Patrick and his wife to preserve the land. A percentage of the sale of each table will go towards keeping the land in its original state.
The table can also be ordered with matching benches. We offer it unfinished or with two different stains. If you order it unfinished, a coat of oil or polyurethane should be applied to preserve the wood. For custom sizes, please contact us.
